Website Launch, Newsletter, and GIVEAWAY!

by | 1 September 2017 | Life | 63 comments

Today is the official launch of my author website (as you can hopefully tell). Needless to say, much flailing and shrieking and excitement has been happening. Along with much work and photos and brainstorming.
(Shout out to my epic sisters Clare—who took my photo—and Alice—who did most of the actual website making, I just told her what to do.)

Many of you have probably at least stalked my blog, and it might seem odd that I’m moving over from my little three-year-old blog to a full-on website. But I have several reasons.

a) after killing my brain to try and think up an author tagline, it would be a pity not to use it somewhere.
b) as I pursue traditional publishing in the future, the publishers will want to know what sort of platform I have. A website is not only a platform (because all you wonderful people like reading my rambles apparently?) but it would also show them that I’m actually serious about this writing thing.
c) I’m officially offering out my content editing services, and to do that I needed a professional website page to manage it on.

Now, after many days of pouring over details and wording and photos and taglines (with a lot of help from family) I think I’m ready to let you all see my work.

And I’m absolutely freaking out.
But all the freaking out aside, I’m also really excited.

In addition to having a brand new website, you might notice the newsletter sign up on the sidebar. I’ll be sending out the first newsletter on Wednesday next week so if you sign up before then you’ll be able to be one of the lucky receivers of my very first attempt! And there may or may not be a surprise reward to anyone who signs up… 😛

If anyone read that title very closely (or the post I did on my old blog), you would’ve seen that I still have one very important topic to address. *drumroll* THE GIVEAWAY!

In celebration, I’m giving away a paperback copy of the winner’s choice between Heartless (Tales of Goldstone Wood #1, Anne Elisabeth Stengl) and A Wish Made of Glass (Ashlee Willis). These two gorgeous books are must-reads and high up on my five-star rating shelf. Follow the links to check out these amazing books on Goodreads.
Note: if you’re the book-hoarding bean who already owns both of these books, enter anyway! If you win, I’ll email you and we can work out another book instead. 😀

Giveaway details:
– It’s open internationally
– The prize is an actual physical paperback copy for one lucky winner
– You have one week to get in your entries…Starting NOW!!!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

“Beyond the final water falling,
The Songs of Spheres recalling,
When the sun descends behind the twilit sky,
Won’t you follow me?”
– Heartless, Anne Elisabeth Stengl

“Moonlight and prayers and glass and frost and wishes.
That’s what they look like.”
– A Wish Made of Glass, Ashlee Willis

Thank you all so much for sticking around and being the most amazing people a girl could ask for. I’m so blessed to know all of you. You guys are the best. <3

You can expect many more posts upcoming over here (any tags I was tagged for via my other blog will be transferred over to here. 🙂 ) and next Friday I’ll be announcing the giveaway winner, so stay tuned for that!

Are you going to enter the giveaway?? Have you read either of these books? Chat with me in the comments!

No worries! You’ll can do it via email (On the sidebar at the right of the screen there should be a thing that says ‘My posts-your emails.’ You can just put your email address in there and click the ‘subscribe’ button.)
OR you can do it via blogger just my copying the link (of the main ‘blog’ page) and pasting it into blogger on the blog-follow page.
Hopefully that’ll work for you. 😛

This was a surprise. One of my brothers mentioen something about someone doing a giveaway, but he refused to give me any details and let me find out for myself.
The website looks lovely. So clean and simple. And good on you for getting editing services up. That’s something I’ve been intending to do all year, but haven’t quite got around to sorting it all out.

Just…wow. This is so cool! I LOVE the new space. *needs to look around more* And your tagline. Girlll that is so awesome <33

Also, really ironic thing, bc I was literally talking to my mom about moving my blog to a self-hosted website. xD I'm thinking of using Bluehost and WordPress. May I ask what you used? (if you don't mind 🙂

Anyway, awesome job with this and I'm super excited for you! I must go spread virtial pizza across the Internet now. I am a broke bookworm but Heartless is on my TBR 😉

This website is made using WordPress (and hosted with an Australian company). Bluehost seems to be a decent option and not too expensive. They also offer free SSL certificates (Secure https://example.com) too which is really good (you can turn it on in the security options).

If you go with WordPress you should install the Wordfence security plugin. It is great to keep out hackers.

      Hope this helps…

ACK REALLY?? That is SO COOL. You toootally should. As Alice said I'm on WordPress and it doesn't seem too complicated? I mean, I'm super duper glad that Alice is my sister AND a web designer otherwise I'd still be in such a mess, but it hasn't been terribly hard to learn the basics. So yeeep.

Thaaanks!! I'm still flailing. XD Ooh yes, broke bookworms. I am that about 70% of the time, but I'm getting better so YAY. XP

Question: do you have a facebook page or anything for this, so if/when I share I can tag you?

Ooh, pretty books. I think someone’s recommended Tales of the Goldstone Wood to me before, but I’m not sure. Which of the two do you like better?

Yessss. <3 Ooh good question...I think I like Heartless better because it's longer so there's more time to enjoy it, and it's a pretty cool story, particularly with how it weaves into the other Tales of Goldstone Wood. A Wish Made of Glass is super cool too though.
