Q+A Vlog (Part One)

by | 19 January 2018 | Life | 39 comments

My first vlog of 2018 is up and ready for you to watch. I got a ton of questions, and I wasn’t possibly going to be able to answer them in a decent amount of time, so I had to split this vlog in two.

In today’s, I’ll be answering my favourites of the ‘random’ questions. Next week, or sometime in the general near future, I’ll answer all the writing related questions in a different vlog.

I’d also just like to apologise for the screaming cicadas throughout the entire video—particularly in the shots that were taken outside. It’s the middle of summer here, and that’s the tune that we hear from morning to night every day. 😛

So here we are again. Another dorky video of the normal, relaxed, not at all professional me. I hope you enjoy!

[To those viewing this in the email, you’ll have to head over to the actual blog post to watch it or else onto youtube]

As I said, Part Two will come soon with all the writer-related questions. Until then, thank you all for submitting your questions, they all made me smile when I read them. 😉

Your turn! What’s your biggest screw-up in the kitchen? Which fairytale would you want to be the main character of?

Jane Maree is an Adventurer—exploring the endless wonders of God’s beautiful creation. She started writing by accident, but since the very beginning has loved the enchantment of words on paper. If you say anything about pizza, superheroes, books, or any of her many, many fandoms, she’ll come at the double. Aside from crafting worlds using only twenty-six letters, she is a passionate Jesus-lover, freelance editor, self-trained martial artist, songwriter, and musician. In her spare time, she's often off on random adventures in the name of story research. She seeks to inspire her readers to step out and become the heroes of hope this world needs.

Since you cut the part of the video where I pointed out that grasshoppers aren’t crickets I feel obligated to point that out now. Gosh the roosters were loud though, as of course were the cicadas, but they were like that in reality.

In fairness, I had to keep the video a sensible length. 😛
Thank you for all your videoing! <3

😀 Stan approves of your choice of pet.
(Personally, though, dragons as pets can be a LOT of maintenance. Especially adventure-seeking ones like Stan.
Also, forget the cake (although the cake story was nice). I want to know; how often do you cook pizza? Can you make it really well, seeing’s you’re the pizza ninja?

Haha I’m glad. XD I’ll definitely keep that in mind.

We used to cook pizza every Tuesday and eat it for lunch, but not quite as much anymore. However we still do cook it every now and then (and we always put pineapple on it). Naturally pizza cooked by the pizza ninja is the best pizza ever. ;P

They say you have to kiss many frogs before you find your prince. I’m not sure if they were literally talking about frogs though…
I made my friend kiss a snail once 😀 I’m that cruel kind of friend.
Ah, my biggest screw up in the kitchen….I have the bad habit of refusing to read the entire recipe, so I often leave things out by accident (left the cream out of the cheesecake this Christmas. Not entirely my fault though, because I read cream, cheese, sugar as cream cheese and sugar. The importance of the comma is demonstrated right there). My most humiliating fail was an attempt to make a 1909 recipe for Apple Charlotte, for book research, which was probably the strangest and most terrible thing I’ve ever done in the name of novel writing. Since then, I’ve never tried to make the same kind of food that my protagonists eat.

I’ll have to go around and kiss a couple more, eh? xP

Oh my word. A snail?? Really, Chelsea?? Ew. 😉

Oh dear. That sounds like a mixture for disaster. XD

The thing that surprised me most about it was that she actually did it. Note: never play Truth or Dare with Chelsea 😛

Aw, thank you! I wasn’t sure which of my skirts was my official favourite, but I figured that one counted since I wear it reasonably often.

Oh, good to know. XD I’ll remember that for next time.

Haha, they can be very loud, can’t they!

Thank you thank you. I’m so glad you liked it, and I can’t wait to film the next one! 😀

I don’t know what fairy tale I’d be in… I think they’re pretty dark. Ummm… Yeah. I’ll stick to safer grounds.

My biggest failure in the kitchen was leaving flour out of a cake…

Awesome vlog!!! You made me laugh as always! And you have some cool sisters.

I’ve always called that particular game Tip. But maybe that’s a difference between American and Aussie? I don’t know. I think it’s a family thing.

This was an awesome Q & A, Jane!:)
I can’t wait for part 2, also I like when your sister read the question:
“Do you have stairs in your house?”
*someone walks down the stairs making noise*
    “No”
    “She is telling the truth”.
Also thank you for answering my question, about your secret powers…to bad you can’t reveal them.

Well, since you DID hop up and down on one leg with your eyes closed and not fall over, I had to get up and try it myself. Maybe I’ll think of something more challenging next time 😉

The grasshopper…omw xD That was my favorite part, hands down.

Looking forward to the next part!

I actually tried it right after I read your question the first time. I got up from the laptop and hopped on one leg…and then my sister walked into the room while I was doing it. XD That was amusing. 😛

Saaaame. XD It was so much fun.

Me too! Thanks for watching. 😀

And those cicadas are so loud! especially in the catching-grasshoppers extra scene. *pulls out earbuds* *frowns*
    …maybe that wasn’t your cicadas…

Haha! XD When I was editing the video, they were super loud right outside the window so it was barely any difference from when I paused it and when I had it playing. 😉

I am sorely shocked at your lack of determination to eat a cricket/grasshopper!! Though if you’d followed the instructions and fried it first it wouldn’t have been able to escape… ;D It would have been the highlight of my day if it had flown straight into your mouth! But at least you didn’t outright say no, so extra points for catching one, which I must say was amusing. 🙂
And I must say that was an epic skirt. Do you prefer long ones to short ones?
Lastly, I’m the Italian one and pizza is Italian, and no you most certainly DO NOT put pineapple on pizza. *nods*

*bows* Thanks! I like both, to be honest, depending on what I want to be doing while wearing it. 😛

THIS WAS HILARIOUS, Jane!!! I died laughing. XD Pippin is who I thought you would pick when I asked that question about LotR. *nods* And the chicken! XD XD XD I don’t read very many fairytales, so I don’t really know. Maybe Belle from Beauty and the Beast? Does she count? :-Z There was a time when I burned every piece of toast I made. That year or two I was banned from making toast. XD
