In case you’re one of those people who skip over post titles, I’ve got an announcement for you.
*drumroll*
IT’S MY WEBSITE’S ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
One year ago, on September 1st, this site went live (and everything crashed, as websites like to do) and I started screaming internally. Now, I have 1,585 comments and this post is my 76th. Those are both huge numbers, and I’m still screaming internally. šÆ
I want to say a huge thanks to YOU. Yes, you! Even if you’ve never been on my blog until this moment, or you’re only here for the giveaway. I’m so blessed by all of you. You make me smile, you make me laugh, you brighten my day with emails and comments and little gifts. Thank you so, so much. I wish I could give each of you a giant hug.
I’ve been in the mood for a giveaway since June, but I’ve been putting it off until I had a good reason. TODAY IS THE GOOD REASON! I’m suuuper excited about this giveaway, because giving things away is really fun, and the prizes are totally awesome. (I think they are, anyway.)
The Prizes
First of all: this giveaway is open internationally! Doesn’t matter if you’re in Scotland, Antarctica, or even Queensland, I will still post the prize to you. š
There are two prizes here, so there will be TWO WINNERS.
Prize #1: (pictured above) the winner’s choice of ONE book (because I only have so much money), choosing between Cinder, A Time to Die, and Orphan’s Song. AND an amazing glow-in-the-dark pendant necklace, made by Zachery Seibel-Barnes!
If the winner owns all three of the bookish options, I can mail a different book of their choice depending on the price. And the pendant is perfect for girlsĀ and guys because it’s totally awesome, so if you’re a guy, don’t make the ‘necklace’ word stop you from entering. š
*Note that Orphan’s Song will be in the new edition (because the cover looks more gorgeous), not the first edition as pictured.
Prize #2:Ā (pictured below) Two lovely notebooks and a ‘Writing Heroes ⦠Writing Hope’ pen. I was actually so ridiculously excited for the pen that I ordered two so I could keep one for myself. XD
Unfortunately, even though I’ve been planning this giveaway for several months, I was not quite organised enough and the pen has not yet arrived in my mailbox. I went out this morning to check, just in time to see the postman drive past with nothing for me. š¢ So below is a screenshot from when I was designing it, and a photo of the notebooks.
The Giveaway!
All the options for entering are below (If you’re reading this in the email, you’ll have to click through to the post for this part), so go forth and enter!
You’ll notice that there are ‘fun facts’ near the bottom. All the answers of these can be found somewhere on my blog, and I also mentioned one answer in a recent newsletter. You’ll need ninja skills for that one, mwhaha. š
Thank you again for all being so amazing. I’m looking forward to many more years of writing and bookish craziness!
Who likes giveaways? (Hint: everyone) Which prize do you think is the coolest? What’s your favourite thing about my blog? Let’s chat together!
Yay!! Congrats on 1 year. My author website will go live in a few days on Sept 1 xD
It’s been fun getting to know you through Nadine’s group. Keep up the great work!
Awk, we’ll share an anniversary. š So excited for you!!
Thank you so much. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you too. ^-^
I followed your page on Facebook and am now definitely going to check out your blog more! ^_^ Both prizes look absolutely fantastic – thank you so much for the giveaway!
Aw, thank you! That’s too sweet of you. š
It’s absolutely my pleasure. Giveaways are so much fun on all counts.
Congratulations Jane! It has been so much fun to watch this site grow. Hmmm, if I won, I would probably choose A Time To Die! Also that pen is amazing. Thank you!
xx
Mira
Thank you, Mira! ⤠You’ve always been such a lovely encouragement to me.
Yes! A Time to Die is definitely a great choice. I approve. š
Isn’t it?? I couldn’t resist buying an extra one for myself!
I can’t believe it has been one year!!
Congratulations Jane!!
I really wanted to read A Time to Die, but those notebooks are so pretty.
Me neither! It’s been a crazy ride and I’m still absolutely in awe that I have a website and so many amazing reader friends like you. š
It’s a hard choice! I’m a little jealous that I don’t get to win these prizes myself… š
Yay! Website birthdays are fun!
At least it did not take too long to fix all the things that broke last year š
You have been professional for a whole year now Jane. Must be getting old!?
Yes, they sure are! Thank goodness I have an awesome web designer. š
Oh dear, I must be. I’m going to be a wrinkly old lady before you know it!
Hey Jane,
I just love being an avid follower of your totally AWESOME blog!! š You are so inspiring for me. š
And I reckon that glow-in-the-dark pendant sounds super cool. š
Thank you, Anton!! I’m so honoured to have you as an avid follower, and friend. š
It’s absolutely stunning in person. I love how Zachery expertly interpreted my vague request and made it exactly how I was imagining!
Ooooh! The giveaway has finally arrived! *happy claps*
Yikes. One year. Already. Wow.
Gaaaah. All of those prizes are so preeetty. Nice choices!
It has!! I can’t believe the pen didn’t get to me in the mail in time though. After all my planning… xD
I’m still in shock that it’s been a whole year, but at the same time it seems like so much longer!
Thank you! I can’t get over how the pen actually is perfectly matching the tone and colour of the notebooks. Such talent. š
EEPPP! Those notebooks are so COOL!
Yes, they are! And they’re so beautiful to photograph too. š
HAPPY WEBSITE ANNIVERSARY!!!!! *wildly throws confetti*
We’ll have to throw a ninja pizza party to celebrate.
And okay, but like… DAT GIVEAWAY. *drools* Allllll those books would be amazing to have, but on the very off chance that I won, I would probably choose A Time to Die. Because I’m absolutely dying to read a Nadine Brandes book. XD I need to ask my library to get Fawkes because I don’t think they’ll get it otherwise and I NEED IT!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH LILA!! You’re the best. ^-^
Yes, we definitely should! š
I almost wish that someone else was hosting this giveaway so I could enter myself. XD Fawkes is so cool! (I wanted to have that as one of the book choices, but unfortunately it was a little above my budget.)
Aaaaah, happy anniversary! I cannot believe it’s been a whole year already. O.O Even so, it’s been an epic year. <33
Woah, those prizes look really cool! *nods* Favorite might be the book…*cough*yes, hopeless bookworm, I admit it. XP
Favorite part of the website is probably writing snippets/updates and collages. š
Looking forward to lots more Jane epicness! <3 *hugs*
Me neither! It seems like so much longer somehow. šÆ Thank you for doing your part to make it epic!
Bookworms are the best sort though. XD And I made it particularly difficult with amazing books to pick from.
Yee, cool! They’re always fun to write too. š
Me too! Thanks for being an awesome reader and friend. *hugs back*
This is great! I love the notebooks. You can never have enough of those. The necklace is really cool.
Agreed! Notebooks are lifesavers. It so is! I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out. š
HAPPY BLOGVERSARY (or website-versary, if that’s a word XD). *throws confetti and pizza* I can’t believe it’s been only a year o.o I feel like this place has been around forever (in a good way)!
THANK YOU, AUDREY! Same here. It seems like aaages ago that I launched this. š±
EEEEEEEEEE CONGRATS JANE!!! *throws much confetti and hands you chai tea* I LOVE ALL THE PRIZES. The books look especially cool though…;-D I am participating in the giveaway!!! And I did do the last one without cheating. *nods* š My favorite thing about your blog is probably all the encouragement that you post. It always makes my day. š <333
Thank you so much for all your enthusiasm and encouragement, girl. You’re such a lovely friend. š
You’ll have flexible ninja-toes before you know it. xD
Aww, that made my day to hear. Thank you!! ā¤
Still think the pendant is the coolest thing, I mean it glows in the dark! Not even books glow in the dark….oh and of course Orphan Song in the newest edition, that one too. I wonder if one could get glow in the dark stuff on books though, instead of goldy stuff on a cover have glowy stuff.
Yes, it’s so cool. Glow in the dark book covers would be amazing! šÆ I want this to be a thing asap.
EEK HAPPY BLOG ANNIVERSARY!!
Sorry I don’t comment very much but I absolutely love reading your posts. My favourite thing is how funny and encouraging you can be at the same time <3
Thank you!!! š
That’s totally fine. ⤠Aw, I’m so glad. Thank you for being an awesome friend, Sarah. š
Happy anniversary! I’m proud to say that I’ve been around since the Misty Maiden days and that I’ve loved reading your posts ever since then!
I also filled out the giveaway, and yes, I did do the last one with my toes, though I went where my family wouldn’t see me doing it š (I also have a touch screen computer, so it was probably way easier for me than for others :P)
Here’s to another year (and more) of Writing Heroes and Writing Hope!
(that pen, by the way…it’s awesome…*stares jealously at it*)
I can hardly believe you’ve stuck around for so long, girl! That’s amazing and it really means so much to me, thank you.
I’m so proud! š Touch screens still involve ninja skills so you pass the test. š
(Yesss. Every time I look at it, I like it even more. But the post is being stubborn and it STILL hasn’t arrived. š)
…even QueENSLAND?? *offers you pudding, slightly damp from tears of joy* ;P
I can’t believe your website’s been going for a whole year – congrats, Jane!
Haha, I was thinking of you when I put that there. š
Me neither! Thank you so much, Jem. š
okay now I really am curious as to how many instruments you own. xD
I mentioned it at the very end of my last newsletter… š
(I’ll reveal the answer next Friday, along with the giveaway winner. š)
Congrats on the anniversary! It seems like everyone I follow is having one year website anniversaries in the past two or three months, lol.
These look like fabulous prizes!
Thank you so much! I know right? There’s anniversaries all over the place. š±
I’m so jealous that I don’t get to enter myself. š
How exciting? And I’m going to try to enter the last with my toes. . . but it sounds so hard!
You can do it! I believe in your ninja skills. š
“Which prize is your favourite? What book would you pick?” I like the lovely notebooks, but the pendant looks fun. Maybe the first prize and “Cinder.” Or maybe “A Time To Die.” Or maybe another book if I’m lucky enough to win.
The pendant is SO amazing. It looks so magical in the dark. š
Cinder and A Time to Die are both stunning books!
Wow, has it really been a year since this site opened? Holy moly! Congrats Jane š
Catherine
I know right?? It’s been one wild ride of a year, and I’m looking forward to the next year of adventures too!
Thank you, Catherine. š
oooh I’d prolly choose A Time to Die or Cinder!
Basically you just can’t go wrong with any of these three books. š
Woohoo congrats on your one year anniversary!!!! That is soooo exciting! š
I love those notebooks, and that pen is awesome š
Thank you so much!! I can’t believe that your website has been up for two whole months already! šÆ
Yess! Definitely agreeing with you on both of those assessments.
One whole year! *tries to remember when own blogiversary is* *fails*
I really don’t know which book I would choose. I don’t own A Time to Die, but our library has it. I’ve got Orphans Song as an e-book, and intend to read it someday. And I tried reading Cinder once (the library had it as audio) and it didn’t grab my interest enough for me to keep going.
Crazy, isn’t it? šÆ
Tough choices all around. There is always the option of another totally different book too. š
Happy blogiversary!! *throws confetti and waves pom poms* Also big thank you for making the giveaway international. š It cheers my heart to know there are some out there.
Favorite prize? Well those notebooks are amazing and the pen is customized…. but almost nothing beats a book in my mind.
Thanks so much for continuing to blog! I always look forward to reading your newsletter and writing š
Haha, I feel you! I see all these amazing giveaways, but they’re normally US only, so my giveaways will ALWAYS be international. I don’t want anyone to have to miss out.
The choice between notebooks/pens and books will forever be a hard one, but I think I’d choose books too. š
It’s my pleasure! Thank YOU for being part of my journey. I wouldn’t be here without the wonderful support.
I’ve heard such great things about Orphan’s Song! Congrats on one year, that’s a great milestone!! š
Yes, I love the Songkeeper Chronicles so much! The second book was my favourite, but they were all really good. š
Thank you!
Wow, this is exciting!! And it’s an international giveaway!!!! š I live in England! š I saw your update on Goodreads about it, so I needed to hop over and check it out!!
I’d probably pick “The Orphan’s Song” if I won the first prize, although the second prize is really appealing to me! š
Congratulations on your blogversary!! š
Woohoo! Aren’t international giveaways just the best? š I’m down in Australia, so I know the pain.
Orphan’s Song is so amazing. ā¤
Thank you so much! And thanks for checking out my blog. š
Oh it’s so wonderful when people understand!! š I am determined, sometime when I start doing giveaways, I’m going to make them for internationals too. I just know there are so many internationals disappointed out there! š
No problem!
Yess. Making them international doesn’t actually effect the cost too much really, because it costs a lot to post anything anywhere. š
Hosting international giveaways is a great aspiration! Definitely do it. š
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! I love your blog and am so happy to have come across you on here! <3
THANK YOU! š I want to say a special thanks to you for being awesome and I’m just so blessed to have met you via the internet. You’re awesome, girl.
I just stumbled upon your blog. My favorite prize is A Time To Die. It’s been on my list for ages and I also appreciate that you’re international. š
Thanks for dropping in, Grace. š
A Time to Die is one of my FAVOURITE books, so I hope you enjoy it when you finally get to read it!
Haha, I’ve suffered through too many “US only” giveaways to do one of my own. š
Let’s hope this comment goes through… congratulations on one year, Jane! That’s so exciting! I love that pen and those notebooks are beautiful. <33 I think the book I would choose is Cinder because I've heard so much about it, but Orphan's song looks really cool too. š
Thank you!! I couldn’t have done it without readers like you. š
I’m so looking forward to when the pen arrives in the mail, because I want to admire it closely. š It’s going to be gorgeous.
Cinder and Orphan’s Song are both wonderful books, but hugely different stories. I loved them both so much.
Ok, I tried to post this earlier, but it wouldnāt go??? So, take 2:
Wow! CONGRATULATIONS on your blogoversary! I donāt know if Iāll enter the contest or not, but this is still exciting!
(If you donāt recognize me, thatās because Iām new around here. I always seem to find people around their blogoversary…..)
Again, congrats, Jane Maree!
Ah no, my comments are being a pain again, sorry. šŖ
Thank you! And thanks so much for stopping by.
I do that all the time too! It’s a pleasure to meet you, Nicole. š
Cool beans girl! I’d pick A Time to Die because Fawkes was soooooooo good, and I already own Orphan’s Song. Haven’t read Cinder. Is it good?
Fawkes is AMAZING. š I haven’t stopped screaming about it since I read it.
I really enjoyed Cinder and the whole Lunar Chronicles. It’s definitely not for everyone, so you might not enjoy it, but I definitely did. Each book in the series is a retelling of a fairytale. Cinder is retold Cinderella, then there’s Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White.
Hmm… sounds interesting. Is it clean language wise?
I think there was a some language in it, but fairly mild, and not overdone. As far as I remember, anyway. It can’t have been too bad, or it would’ve been more memorable. š
Congratulations!! š
I loves those prizes!! š
I’d probably choose A Time to Die!
Thank you so much! š
A Time to Die is great. I just love it so much. ā¤
