I find it ironic that since doing a post on ‘how to afford books as a broke bookworm’ I have done three posts. Two out of those three have been me getting excited about books.
Is that going to stop me from continuing with this post of all my book-excitement? Absolutely not. 😛
You might notice that I’ve jumped in on this week’s blog post a day early, and the reason is: Today, I am incredibly excited to take part in the cover reveal of an AMAZING upcoming book, written by my FAVOURITE author. Otherwise known as Romanov, by the lovely Nadine Brandes!
I would like to announce that I have reached a new level of rabid fan. I preordered this book with 314 days until the release date. Before the official title reveal and everything. You can begin to doubt my sanity in three…two…one…
There aren’t many authors on my instant-buy list, but Nadine has well earned her place. I’ve enjoyed every single one of her books, and I love how much she cares about and has a heart for her readers. Author goals. ❤
Needless to say, I am VERY excited about Romanov, because it’s going to be SO COOL. The cover wasn’t at ALL what I expected, but I love love love it so much.
What I was expecting: I was imagining the cover would be in the same style as Fawkes. I mean, they’re totally different books, but they’re both Nadine’s, both historical fantasy, and both published by Thomas Nelson. As for a colour scheme, I’d guessed red because that was my hunch.
What it actually turned out to be: Well, turns out it did involve some red, but I missed on everything else by a long shot. 😛 But the best way to share that…is with a picture! (and also a lot of scrolling because I like being dramatic.)
Keep an open mind.
It might not be what you’re expecting either.
The history books say I died. They don’t know the half of it.
Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them . . . and he’s hunted Romanov before.
Nastya’s only chances of survival are to either release the spell, and deal with the consequences, or enlist help from Zash, the handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya’s never dabbled in magic before, but it doesn’t frighten her as much as her growing attraction for Zash. She likes him. She thinks he might even like her . . .
That is, until she’s on one side of a firing squad . . . and he’s on the other.
My reaction: Let me just say that, despite the cover being NOTHING like I was expecting it to be, I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! The style is absolutely different from all of Nadine’s other books, but it’s still SO cool.
As soon as I saw the cover, I squealed and then a second later I thought “THIS IS THE STYLE I WANT ON -insert top secret project- ONE DAY.”
It’s such a unique feel and the cover definitely could only fit with a very specific style of story, but I’m confident that it’s going to be perfect for Romanov. Fortunately it’s only 222 days until this book releases on the 7th of May, 2019
It’s up for pre-order, of course! I’ve got those links below, but first I just want to tell you that pre-orders are HUGELY important for an author.
It helps the book get out there, tells the publishers that there’s a market for the book, and it also makes the author’s day to know that you’re so excited about their book. 😉 So if you’re thinking about getting this book at some point…pre-order!
What do you think of the cover? Are you looking forward to this book? Have you read Nadine’s other books? Tell me all the bookishness!
